Did an installation of netatalk (AFP server in Linux) to support the macs at home. Wanted to setup network time machine for Pauline's computers so that she has a backup of stuff. I followed the instructions at: http://netatalk.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php/Install_Netatalk_3.1.7_on_Ubuntu_14.10_Utopic And that seems to work well on a testing VM. The article is well written except for the fact that the required packages are not in a form which is easy to copy and paste. So here is the list of packages on my system.

build-essential libevent-dev libssl-dev libgcrypt11-dev libkrb5-dev libpam0g-dev libwrap0-dev libdb-dev libtdb-dev libmysqlclient-dev libavahi-client-dev libacl1-dev libldap2-dev libcrack2-dev systemtap-sdt-dev libdbus-1-dev libdbus-glib-1-dev libglib2.0-dev tracker libtracker-sparql-0.16-dev libtracker-miner-0.16-dev
