Repaste and new casing

The GPU is getting quite hot so it is probably time for a repaste. There appears to be some news stating that the RTX 4090 thermal paste is quite bad and dries out within a year. It certainly seems to be the case with the high temperatures. Heard really good things about the Honeywell PTM7950 thermal pads so got some for the repaste.

And there appears to be a airflow issue with heat accumulation. So got a Lian Li LanCool III to improve the airflow.

So I had a bit of a mishap with the thermal pad and had to redo. The use of the sticky tape to lift the plastic protective sheet is very important. Tried to remove it using a tweezer did not work. So had to use the reminder which required me to use two pieces. But it worked :-)

Everything in the Lain Li LanCool II case which is quite a nice case. The system is actually very quiet which was a concern given its more open design.

The temperatures for the CPU and GPU are now well within range and hopefully with the thermal pads, no repaste would be needed for a while.
